Dear readers
Welcome to The Urban Eagle!
Firstly, thank you for reading. Every now and then my blog gets raided by somebody who reads almost every post and then promptly disappears into the cyber-vacuum. We can only speculate what happened to that guy from the UK… If you happen to find yourself in the most unusual circumstance of actually enjoying what you find on this blog please follow or comment. It helps me realize I am not just pumping words into the ether. I love writing and would appreciate that encouragement.
I realize the awkward mix of personal blogging, medicine, science fiction and the odd post on metaphysics cannot appeal to everyone. Yes I know. But I’m hoping to find those who are willing to stick around for what they do enjoy, and it would please me to no end if someone actually said they were interested in all of those things.
So here we go dear infrequent reader…
The latest post is called, Interview for the Next Big Thing
You can also follow my progress in learning to write Science Fiction – Preview of my next story
Also, you can still buy AfroSF: Science Fiction by African Writers here.

The first story I’ve ever had published (actually the first story I’ve ever written) appears in here. More on that in the future okay?
Who or what is The Urban Eagle?
The man behind the talon is a doctor, fighter, writer and a pseudosavante in a relative wealth of unimportant topics.
This blog is specifically designed as a playground for my observations and ideas on the world and my passions.
Much of what is here will be incomplete ideas because I find it better to put something out there than to perpetuate the stereotype of the lazy perfectionist blogger.
Topics include:
- Medicine
- Observations of the world around me
- Science, philosophy and faith
- Speculative fiction
Occasionally things like gaming, book reviews and MMA might pop up. Whatever you came here for, there will be more of it in the future.
Also, I’d love to be able to write some more short fiction in the new future and will post the drafts here.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
If you enjoy anything on the blog please feel free to comment!

i must say, im really looking forward to “what’s next”… “New Mzansi” was some really heart pulling stuff, you were on the border of truth. in fact im almost positive, these situations aren’t only SA based. Aids all over a world seem like a damn commodity. Being HIV + doesn’t mean your CD4 count is at a certain level/ strain, it now means you become a victim of “other”… anyway, lovely inserts you have on your blog, very smart and real…
PS; its mandy, we met on the flight to JNB. here’s my blog scorpiodiaries.tumblr.com and my email add: mandisathusini@yahoo.com . Hope your weekend was good
Hey Mandi, glad you decided to check out the link I gave you! Thank you for making an effort to give me feedback, I really appreciate that. ‘smart and real’ – what I was hoping for. Anyway, I will make an effort to check out your tumblr. In the meantime I thought you might enjoy this as well http://wp.me/s1fhwU-ayobaman
